The HPC User Forum Community

About the HPC User Forum Community

The HPC User Forum community includes thousands of people from the steering committee, member organizations, sponsors and everyone who has attended an HPC User Forum meeting. Our mission is to promote the health of the global HPC industry and address issues of common concern to users. Unlike most other HPC events, the HPC User Forum focuses primarily on important issues — characterizing them, openly discussing them, and acting where possible to address them. Participation in HPC User Forum meetings is open to anyone with an interest in high performance computing or high performance data analysis (big data using HPC), including users, vendors, funders, and others. Since 1999, more than 50 HPC User Forum meetings have been held in North America, Europe and Asia. Thousands of individuals representing hundreds of organizations have attended meetings as speakers or active audience members.

We welcome your participation and your suggestions for issues the HPC User Forum should address.

About the Steering Committee

The HPC User Forum is directed by a voluntary, multinational steering committee of leading HPC experts from government, academia and industry. The steering committee advances the HPC User Forum’s mission to promote the health of the global HPC industry and address issues of common concern to users. The committee establishes the agenda topics for HPC User Forum meetings and the ongoing technical research agenda.

About Our Members

Although U.S. and international meetings are our best-known activities and are open to anyone, the HPC User Forum is also available as an annual-subscription research service that includes highly discounted meeting registration fees, 20-plus research documents per year, and inquiry hours with HPC analysts. Member organizations play a crucial role in shaping and supporting the activities of the HPC User Forum. In return provides members with independent market data, continual guidance as needed, and opportunities for increased visibility. Members come from government, industry, academia and vendor organizations.

About Our Sponsors

Vendor organizations show their support for the HPC User Forum and exploit opportunities for special visibility by sponsoring a refreshment break or meal at an HPC User Forum meeting. Sponsorships typically include an opportunity to provide a technical or company update during the meeting, visibility on meeting signage, tabletop display space at U.S. meetings, and other benefits.

About Our Forum Attendees

HPC User Forum meetings are open to anyone with an interest in high performance computing or high performance data analysis (big data using HPC), including users, vendors, funders, and others. Attendees have described HPC User Forum meetings as providing a “fire hose” of new information and insight. Post-meeting evaluation scores have consistently averaged 8 to 9 on a 1-10 scale, where 10 is optimal. Meetings typically attract well over $1 billion in buying power and are deliberately limited to no more than about 120 attendees to encourage active participation and informal side discussions. To date, several thousand individuals have attended HPC User Forum meetings in North America, Europe and Asia.
